Former India batter Ambati Rayudu has praised KL Rahul for his evolved mindset and aggressive batting approach following a match-winning performance for Delhi Capitals against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026.

Rahul, who currently holds the Orange Cap, delivered a शानदार innings, scoring 75 off just 40 balls in a high-pressure chase of 226. A key highlight of his innings was his dominance over leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi—a bowler who had troubled him in the past. Prior to this match, Rahul had managed only eight runs off 12 deliveries against Bishnoi in the IPL. However, this time he turned the tables, smashing 26 runs off just nine balls, including two fours and two sixes.

He noted that Rahul showed confidence by attacking lengths he would typically play cautiously, particularly against spin. This shift, Rayudu explained, reflects both improved confidence and a more modern T20 approach.

Rahul’s innings ended unbeaten at 75 off 41 balls, boasting an impressive strike rate of 187.50. So far in IPL 2026, he has accumulated 433 runs in nine matches, including three half-centuries and one century, with a remarkable strike rate of 185.83—his highest in any IPL season.

Addressing the long-standing discussions around his strike rate, Rahul acknowledged the criticism and highlighted his efforts to adapt. He stated that improving his strike rate has been a conscious focus, aligning his game with the demands of modern T20 cricket while prioritizing the team’s needs.
