LSG’s INR 8.60 crore signing available immediately ahead of clash vs Mumbai Indians as Breetzke returns home
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Josh Inglis has officially joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad ahead of their upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 fixture against Mumbai Indians on May 4. The wicketkeeper-batter is available for immediate selection, providing a timely boost to LSG’s struggling campaign.
Meanwhile, South African batter Matthew Breetzke has left the tournament due to personal reasons and returned home. Reports indicate that his departure is linked to a bereavement in his wife’s family. There is currently no confirmation on whether he will rejoin the squad later in the season.
Inglis, who was signed by LSG for INR 8.60 crore ahead of IPL 2026, had earlier informed franchises about his limited availability due to his wedding, which took place on April 18 in Margaret River, Western Australia. He was previously part of Punjab Kings, where he scored 278 runs in 11 innings at an impressive strike rate of 162.57.
The 29-year-old has already started training with the squad and could feature in LSG’s playing XI immediately. His inclusion comes at a crucial time, with LSG’s overseas batting lineup struggling for consistency. Players like Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and Mitchell Marsh have yet to replicate their previous season’s performances.
LSG will face Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in what will be both teams’ ninth match of the season. With only two wins each so far, the game is crucial for both sides as they aim to revive their IPL 2026 campaigns.
Looking ahead, LSG have a packed schedule with three matches in the coming week, including fixtures against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. The team will be hoping that Inglis’ arrival can provide the much-needed momentum to turn their season around.
