David Miller delivered a clutch performance to guide Delhi Capitals to a thrilling victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, smashing 6, 6, 4 in the final over to seal the chase at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The knock marked a moment of redemption for Miller, who admitted a previous failed chase against Gujarat Titans had been playing on his mind.

Speaking after the game, Miller said he felt “really good” to finally close out a tight contest. “It’s always going to be there at the back of the mind until you actually win another game,” he explained, reflecting on the missed opportunity ten days earlier. “I was disappointed then, but to get over the line this time feels great.”

Delhi Capitals needed 15 runs in the final over, with Romario Shepherd starting well by conceding just two singles off the first two balls. With 13 required off four deliveries, Miller turned the game around in dramatic fashion, launching consecutive sixes before finishing with a boundary.

Miller walked in under pressure, with DC requiring 42 runs from 25 balls after skipper Axar Patel retired hurt due to cramps. Partnering with Tristan Stubbs, he stitched together a crucial 45-run stand. Despite a disrupted innings filled with stoppages and disciplined yorkers from RCB bowlers, Miller credited Stubbs for helping him regain focus.

“Stubbo told me to keep my intensity really high, and that shifted my mindset,” Miller said. “The first six balls I faced were all yorkers, and I couldn’t get going, but I’m chuffed it came off in the last six balls.”

Delhi Capitals had initially aimed to finish the match earlier, but tight bowling kept the required rate above 12 per over. However, consistent boundary-hitting in the final overs and smart strike rotation ensured there were no dot balls after the 17th over, keeping the chase alive.

“We knew one or two big hits could change the pressure,” Miller noted. “The key was limiting dot balls, staying calm, and taking the game deep.”

Miller also praised Stubbs for anchoring the innings, calling his contribution “massive” to the win. “He has a great technique and power. Finishing games with him is always special.”

The victory not only boosted Delhi Capitals’ campaign but also highlighted Miller’s reputation as one of the most dependable finishers in T20 cricket.
