This marks a historic moment as the Unicorns become the first franchise from Major League Cricket (MLC) to participate in the tournament, highlighting the rapid global expansion of franchise cricket.
The third edition of the GSL is scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 1 in Guyana, positioning it between the MLC and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) windows, although it will overlap with England’s The Hundred.
The Unicorns will compete alongside a strong roster of international franchises, including Lahore Qalandars (Pakistan Super League), Guyana Amazon Warriors (CPL), Desert Vipers (ILT20), and Perth Scorchers (Big Bash League). This diverse mix of teams reinforces the GSL’s vision of bringing together elite T20 talent from across the globe.
The Lahore Qalandars, one of the most successful PSL franchises with three titles, return to the GSL after featuring in its inaugural edition. Meanwhile, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, winners of the 2025 edition, remain the only team to have participated in all three seasons so far.
GSL chairman Sir Clive Lloyd welcomed the Unicorns’ inclusion, stating that their participation reflects the growing influence of cricket in the United States and the increasing strength of global franchise leagues. He expressed confidence that the 2026 edition will deliver a highly competitive and entertaining tournament.
From the Big Bash League side, Perth Scorchers will see Simon Katich step in to coach the team, replacing Adam Voges, who will be unavailable due to his commitments with Trent Rockets in The Hundred.
With top teams from five major T20 leagues coming together, the Global Super League 2026 promises high-quality cricket, global fan engagement, and a unique clash of playing styles—making it one of the most exciting franchise tournaments on the cricket calendar.
