Karachi Kings have strengthened their squad for the ongoing PSL 2026 by signing Jason Roy as a replacement for Muhammad Waseem. The move comes after Waseem, along with Khuzaima bin Tanveer, was called up to represent the United Arab Emirates national cricket team in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures in Nepal.

Roy’s inclusion is expected to provide a major boost to Karachi’s top order at a crucial stage of the tournament. Known for his aggressive batting and ability to dominate powerplays, Roy brings vast experience from global T20 leagues, including the PSL. The franchise expressed confidence that his presence will add firepower and stability as they push for a playoff spot.

The England opener has an impressive history in the PSL, having featured in six editions since 2016. He has represented Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators, and remains one of the most destructive overseas batters in the competition. Roy also holds the record for the highest individual score in PSL history — an unbeaten 145 off 63 balls against Peshawar Zalmi in 2023. Overall, he has scored 1260 runs in the league at a strike rate of 146.51, including two centuries and eight fifties.

Karachi Kings made a strong start to their PSL 2026 campaign with three consecutive wins but have since lost momentum, suffering back-to-back defeats. Their struggles have been particularly evident at the top of the order. Waseem managed just 86 runs in five matches before his departure, while David Warner has scored 93 runs in four innings, with half of those coming in a single knock. Meanwhile, Reeza Hendricks failed to make an impact in his recent outing.

Currently placed fourth on the points table, Karachi Kings will be hoping Roy’s arrival sparks a turnaround in form. They are set to face Islamabad United on April 16 in what promises to be a crucial encounter for their playoff ambitions.
