Qalandars collapse for 100 as United chase target in just 10.1 overs with a commanding nine-wicket victory
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Islamabad United delivered a clinical all-round performance to crush Lahore Qalandars by nine wickets in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter in Karachi. Riding on a disciplined bowling display led by their spinners and a composed half-century from Devon Conway, United chased down a modest target of 101 in just 10.1 overs, sealing one of the most one-sided wins of the tournament.
The match was effectively decided during Qalandars’ disastrous batting innings, where they were bowled out for just 100. United’s bowling unit, featuring Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Chris Green, and Richard Gleeson, kept relentless pressure from the outset. Mohammad Naeem’s early dismissal for a golden duck set the tone, followed by a stunning diving catch from Shadab to remove Abdullah Shafique.
Lahore struggled to build partnerships, with only a brief 31-run stand between Asif Ali and Sikandar Raza offering some resistance. However, once Asif fell, the innings quickly unraveled as the final six wickets tumbled for just 28 runs, highlighting United’s bowling dominance.
In response, Islamabad United made light work of the chase. Although Shaheen Shah Afridi provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Sameer Minhas, it proved to be a minor setback. Devon Conway anchored the innings brilliantly, rotating strike early before accelerating when needed. He found solid support in Mohammad Faiq, with the duo stitching together a match-winning 93-run partnership.
Conway shifted gears towards the end, smashing Sikandar Raza for 22 runs in a single over to bring up his half-century in style. Just two deliveries later, United completed the chase, underlining their superiority in all departments.
This emphatic win not only boosts Islamabad United’s standing in the PSL points table but also sends a strong message to other teams about their title credentials.
