Following a strong personal comeback performance, Bosch believes that sticking to basics and making the most of key moments will be vital in securing victory.
Bosch, who top-scored with a career-best 91 off 90 balls in the second ODI, highlighted the importance of maintaining clarity and discipline on the field. She admitted that missed chances in the field had cost the team in the series so far and stressed the need to improve in that area.
“Keeping things simple is the key. We need to stick to our plans and not overcomplicate or overthink situations. Taking our chances will be crucial because we’ve let ourselves down in the field at times,” Bosch said ahead of the final match.
The ODI series between South Africa and New Zealand has been intensely competitive. South Africa clinched the first match in a last-ball thriller, successfully chasing 268 with just two wickets remaining. However, New Zealand bounced back in the second ODI with a dramatic two-wicket win, powered by Amelia Kerr’s record-breaking unbeaten 179, helping them chase down South Africa’s imposing total of 346.
Bosch’s return to the ODI format has been a significant positive for South Africa. Playing her first match since the ODI World Cup final last year, she made an immediate impact with her highest score in international cricket. Reflecting on her comeback, Bosch expressed gratitude and determination to make the most of every opportunity.
“It feels great to be back. Whenever you get a chance, you want to make it count. I’m glad it worked out this time, and I hope to keep contributing and putting the team in strong positions,” she said.
The South African batter also opened up about the challenges of being out of the squad and how she used that time to improve her game. She focused on domestic cricket, worked on both technical and mental aspects, and aimed to come back stronger.
“Missing out isn’t easy, but I understood the reasons. I went back, worked hard in domestic cricket, spent time at the crease, and focused on improving both my skills and mindset,” Bosch added.
With the series on the line and crucial ICC Women’s Championship points at stake, South Africa will be aiming to deliver a complete performance in the final ODI. Bosch remains optimistic that by staying composed and executing their plans effectively, the team can come out on top in what promises to be another thrilling contest.
