The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially released the complete league-stage schedule for IPL 2026, setting the stage for an action-packed 19th season starting March 28. One of the biggest highlights is that Mumbai Indians (MI) will face arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) twice during the league phase.

This development comes after a key change in the tournament format by the BCCI. Unlike the previous three seasons, where teams played twice within their group and once against the opposite group, IPL 2026 will follow a reversed structure. Teams will now play once against their own group and twice against teams from the opposite group. This strategic shift ensures more high-profile encounters, including the much-anticipated MI vs CSK and MI vs RCB clashes.

The two blockbuster MI vs CSK matches are scheduled for April 23 in Mumbai and May 2 in Chennai. Meanwhile, MI will take on RCB on April 12 in Mumbai and again on May 10 in Raipur, which has been selected as RCB’s secondary home venue for two matches this season.

The league will be played across 12 venues in India, with 20 matches scheduled between March 28 and April 12, including a double-header Sunday. The remaining 50 matches will take place from April 13 to May 24. While playoff venues are yet to be announced, the IPL 2026 final is expected to be held on May 31.

Teams have once again been divided into two groups based on their title wins. Group A includes Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings. Group B features Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants.

Dharamsala also makes a return to the IPL calendar. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium will host the Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings match on May 11, the same fixture that was disrupted last year due to cross-border tensions.

In terms of scheduling, the league will feature 12 afternoon matches, with each team playing at least two. Rajasthan Royals are the only team not hosting an afternoon game at home, while Delhi Capitals will host two. Notably, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals will each play three afternoon matches—one more than the other teams.

With marquee clashes, revised scheduling, and multiple venues, IPL 2026 promises to deliver an exciting and fan-driven season right from the start.
