Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have suffered a major blow ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026, with Australian seam-bowling allrounder Jack Edwards ruled out of the tournament due to a foot injury.
The 25-year-old, who was signed for INR 3 crore at the 2025 auction, was set to make his IPL debut this season. Notably, Edwards was the only uncapped overseas player picked during the auction, highlighting SRH’s confidence in his potential.
Edwards was coming off an impressive campaign in the Big Bash League 2025-26, where he picked up 19 wickets and scored 133 runs in 13 matches for Sydney Sixers. His performances earned him an international debut for Australia national cricket team in a T20I against Pakistan national cricket team, although he had a modest outing.
He also featured in two Sheffield Shield matches for New South Wales cricket team recently, with his last game concluding just days before the injury setback.
SRH are already dealing with the absence of their regular captain Pat Cummins, who is recovering from a lumbar stress injury. In his absence, Ishan Kishan is set to lead the side in the initial phase of the tournament.
Edwards’ injury adds to the growing list of Australian fast bowlers sidelined ahead of IPL 2026, including Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Ellis, raising concerns over workload and fitness among the country’s pace attack.
SRH will kick off their IPL 2026 campaign on March 28 in Bengaluru against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as they look to overcome early setbacks and start strong in the new season.
