The new framework focuses on enhancing international exposure, improving infrastructure access, and providing logistical backing for domestic and bilateral series.
Under this initiative, the BCCI will fund international travel for two overseas tournaments annually for both the men’s and women’s blind cricket teams. In addition, it will provide accommodation and hospitality support for home and visiting teams during bilateral series hosted in India. The governing body will also grant access to BCCI-affiliated stadiums and grounds for domestic competitions and international fixtures, ensuring better playing conditions and professional exposure.
India’s blind cricket teams have consistently delivered remarkable performances on the global stage. The men’s team has secured multiple world championship titles over the years, establishing India as a powerhouse in blind cricket. Meanwhile, the women’s team created history by winning the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind in 2025, further highlighting the rapid growth of the sport among visually impaired athletes.
BCCI president Mithun Manhas described the achievements of India’s visually impaired cricketers as a source of immense pride for the cricketing fraternity. He emphasized that inclusive growth remains central to the board’s long-term vision and that the new support structure aims to expand opportunities, strengthen infrastructure, and inspire more individuals to take up the sport.
With this strategic partnership, the BCCI looks forward to working closely with CABI to elevate the standard of blind cricket in India. The initiative is expected to create sustainable development pathways, provide greater international exposure, and reinforce India’s leadership in global blind cricket.
