Shardul Thakur to lead Mumbai; Rahane, Jaiswal and Mhatre miss out

The team will be led by all-rounder Shardul Thakur and features a strong mix of experienced players and emerging talent.
Alongside Rohit, the Mumbai squad includes Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan and promising youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi. However, notable absentees from the squad are Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ayush Mhatre, with selectors opting to test several fresh faces in the tournament.
Among the new inclusions, Chinmay Sutar returns to the List A setup after previously representing India Emerging in 2019. Young batter Ishan Mulchandani has also earned a call-up, while fast bowler Onkar Tarmale, recently signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL auction, has been rewarded for his consistent performances.
The squad also features familiar Mumbai names such as Siddhesh Lad, wicketkeepers Hardik Tamore and Akash Anand, and the spin duo of Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, who continue to be key components of the team’s core.
Mumbai have been placed in Group C of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. They will begin their campaign against Sikkim in Jaipur on December 24, followed by a clash against Uttarakhand on December 26.
